“The have impressed me so far in the pres season and will have a playing spot in my Starting Eleven- Manchester City Manager Pep Guardiola confirms two new Man City first team players.

Pep Guardiola will return to Manchester with two new first-team players after running the rule over his youth youngsters in the United States.

Guardiola led a young Manchester City group to the United States, with the majority of his senior players still on holiday after a summer of international games. While he has regularly voiced dissatisfaction that he is unable to implement fresh ideas on tour, Guardiola argues that one advantage is the opportunity to run the rule over City’s top young talent and see how they perform in a first-team setting.

The manager had previously stated that he wanted five or six young players to bolster his roster, but he has now reduced that to just two – Nico O’Reilly and James McAtee.

O’Reilly received accolades for another outstanding effort against Chelsea on his fourth start of the summer, following on his goal against Barcelona. In addition to his goal against AC Milan, McAtee recorded two assists in the second half.

“Every game was significantly better than the previous one,” Guardiola stated. “Kalvin [Phillips] and Erling [Haaland] grew up. Jack [Grealish] creates an astonishing few games. Rico [Lewis] has been exceptional with Oscar [Bobb]. Today, McAtee realizes his football talent. Nico also played at a high level.

“Every young player gets some minutes. Today, I make my debut for Stephen [Mfuni] at the age of 16. Everyone participated. Some players will now be with the first squad, others with the second, and some on loan. Hopefully, they will return next season.

“Both [McAtee and O’Reilly] will be first-team choices. The others are still not ready to play with us. They must be on loan or with the second team. We will monitor their progress since it always depends on them.”
