“He was the cause of our defeat, he had lost the ball more than 10 times on the pitch which caused the second and Third goal, he needs to leave my club-Enzo Maresca reveals main person for Chelsea defeat
Enzo Maresca thinks Chelsea ‘need to improve many things off the ball’ after they were blasted 4-1 by Celtic in their pre-season friendly on Saturday night.
Brendan Rodgers’ team won deservedly at Notre Dame Stadium in Indiana, with first-half goals from Matt O’Reily and Kyogo Furuhashi putting the Scottish champions ahead.
Following the intermission, Luis Palma and Mikey Johnston scored, and Christopher Nkunku added a late penalty.
Chelsea’s setback is their second of the pre-season campaign, following a 2-2 draw with Wrexham earlier this week.
And Maresca admits that his players are still ‘confused’ while in and out of possession.
‘As we mentioned, the outcome is always essential,’ Maresca stated following Chelsea’s defeat.
‘We need to analyze the game in general. On the ball, I believe the team performed ten times better than in the game against Wrexham, which is significant given the number of opportunities we generated in the first and second halves.
