Nonetheless, Chelsea has offered a substantially higher salary, proposing to triple his current earnings and pay him €15 million annually. Arsenal, on the other hand, is reluctant to match such a high wage and is reconsidering its approach.
Williams has become one of the most coveted players in Europe this summer, garnering interest from elite clubs such as Barcelona and Real Madrid. His exceptional performances at Euro 2024, particularly in wins against Croatia, Italy, and Georgia, have drawn significant attention. Notably, in the match against former champions Italy, Williams outperformed right-back Giovanni Di Lorenzo and contributed to the winning goal, which was an own goal by Riccardo Calafiori. Additionally, he scored a remarkable goal in the last-16 victory over Georgia.
The 21-year-old Williams, recognized for his remarkable speed and dribbling prowess, has a €58 million release clause in his contract with Athletic Bilbao.
