Officially, Victor Osimhen Has Stated That He Will Be Joining Chelsea this January on one Condition.
Chelsea has made signing a prolific striker one of their summer priority, and as we have previously reported, Victor Osimhen has long been their preferred choice.
Last season, the Napoli striker scored an incredible 26 goals in 32 Serie A games, propelling his side to their first league title since 1991. This season, he has 14 goals in 22 league games, continuing his good run.
Some of Europe’s most prominent teams have taken note of this. Paris Saint-Germain are said to be competing with Chelsea for Osimhen’s signing.
He will not be a cheap addition, however, because his contract has a release clause of about £113 million, which Napoli is requesting in full.
This is a dilemma for Chelsea, since they will most likely have to sell numerous players before making any more big-money moves.
The Blues’ board is hunting for buyers for homegrown players like Trevoh Chalobah and Armando Broja, while Tottenham target Conor Gallagher may also leave Stamford Bridge.
However, £113 million is still a large cost to pay for Osimhen, and a new report suggests that Chelsea are looking for methods to reduce the price.
Chelsea to offer two players and cash for Osimhen.
According to Italian writer Gianluca Di Marzio, Chelsea has offered Romelu Lukaku, who is presently on loan at Roma, one ‘unnamed young player’, and cash for Osimhen.
The Blues have now’made contact’ with Napoli, informing them that they are prepared to swap the two players and €80-90 million for the Nigerian international.
Napoli’s answer to Chelsea’s ‘offer’ is unknown, but they will most likely wait for PSG, Osimhen’s other suitor, to make a serious proposal as well.
According to TEAMtalk, Osimhen ‘loves’ Chelsea because he idolised renowned African striker Didier Drogba during his time there.
We hear that Chelsea will do everything possible to sign Osimhen this summer, even offloading many players to seal a deal.
It is unclear whether Napoli would take Lukaku, a ‘unnamed young player’, and €90 million (approx. £77.3 million) in exchange for Osimhen.
Di Marzio does, however, mention that the Italian club’s future sports director, Giovanni Manna, is a big fan of Lukaku and would want to bring him to the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.
