Two more players will not play for Chelsea when they play Tottenham in the Premier League.
Recently, Chelsea has been without a number of key players because of injuries. Enzo Fernandez, Reece James, Raheem Sterling, and Ben Chilwell are just a few examples.
When Pochettino spoke to the press before the Spurs game, he said he had “no good news” about injuries and revealed that Thiago Silva and Axel Disasi would also miss Thursday night’s game at Stamford Bridge.
When asked what was new with his team, Pochettino said, “No good news because we can’t remember any players from the last [illness] list.” We also need to add two more people, but Disasi and Thiago can’t come tomorrow.
When asked why Chelsea has had so many problems this season, Pochettino said, “I need to be honest. What I can say is that we have a new process.”
“Of course there are things we could do better.” Many things can happen, though, making it hard to explain in a single word or line.
“Our medical staff is great, and they have a lot of knowledge in this field.” We need to get better and be better next season. But I believe the quality is there; this does happen sometimes.
Tottenham, Pochettino’s old team, comes to Chelsea to play. Spurs are eighth in the Premier League and are still in the running for the Champions League.
Timo Werner and Ben Davies will miss the rest of the season, which means Ange Postecoglou will also be missing some key players against Chelsea.
As of Sunday, Tottenham lost 3-2 to Arsenal in the north London derby. They are now seven points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa, but they have two games in hand over Unai Emery’s team.
Earlier this season, Chelsea beat Spurs 4-1 in the opposite match. Pochettino said it was “special” to return to his old club, where he was manager for five years, from 2014 to 2019.
“It was a big deal when we played there [in November], the second time around.” He said, “It was my first time since leaving the club, but now it’s a different time.”
“Going up against people I worked with for a long time will make me feel bad.” I can’t hide how I feel about the club. I think it will be emotional because you remember how good things were when you played that team in the past.
We want to win the whole game, though, as I’ve already said. Tottenham will also come here to try to win. The game will be fun.
