Chelsea have provided a new injury report ahead of this weekend’s Premier League match against Everton at Stamford Bridge, as Mauricio Pochettino continues to battle injury setbacks.
In his first season with the club, the Argentine has dealt with multiple injuries. In addition to Wesley Fofana and Romeo Lavia’s long-term injuries, important players Reece James and Christopher Nkunku have lost significant amounts of time this season.
Chelsea will aim to welcome back several players before facing Everton on Monday night. Pochettino is anticipated to deliver an update on Cole Palmer, who was substituted against Sheffield United last weekend, as well as Malo Gusto, who did not play at all.
However, the duo did not appear in the club’s weekly injury report. Chelsea provided an update on Pochettino’s roster on Friday, which included three new players.
Raheem Sterling and Robert Sanchez are both “missing due to sickness.” Enzo Fernandez and Axel Disasi, who have played a combined 78 games this season, are questionable for the Monday night match.
According to the update, the two are “undergoing medical examination.” In his pre-match news conference on Friday, Pochettino confessed he was unclear if they would play on Monday.
“We will see. “They are being assessed,” he added. “They have a variety of challenges. We do not feel these are major difficulties, but we will check whether they are accessible.
“They haven’t trained since Sheffield, so we don’t know.”
In brighter news, Ben Chilwell is back ‘in partial team training,’ suggesting he may play against Stamford Bridge. Nkunku (hamstring), Levi Colwill (toe), Lavia (thigh), James (hamstring), Lesley Ugochukwu (hamstring), and Fofana (knee) are all still sidelined due to rehabilitation.
