VERY SAD NEWS has been announced for Chelsea Star Cole Palmer this morning after he was substituted against Sheffield United
Mauricio Pochettino has explained why he elected to substitute Cole Palmer with 20 minutes remaining in the Premier League match against Sheffield United.
The England international came into the game hot off a magnificent hat-trick in a thrilling comeback victory over Manchester United last Thursday.
Noni Madueke, who impressed off the bench in that game, was promoted to the starting lineup alongside Thiago Silva, and the duo scored for Chelsea either side of Jayden Bogle’s lucky strike from a tight angle.
Because he was so little involved in compared to normal, and cameras captured him gripping his back in pain, there were concerns that he had sustained an injury, but Pochettino was quick to allay those fears at his press conference.
When asked by football.london if he was injured, Pochettino said, “No, no. I believe he was exhausted. My impression was that he was exhausted.
2-1 for us; Carney is another No.10 who can play there and execute his job. Yes, I believe we are pleased with him.
“We have to protect him. He received a knock against Manchester United and was a little tireder than usual, but we wanted to protect him after scoring the second goal. Trying to prevent an issue in the future.”
Regarding the outcome, he stated, “Very upsetting since we conceded in the first half after scoring. When you yield in the final few minutes, you are always dissatisfied and frustrated. “I believe the draw is a fair result. We did not create enough, even though we had control and possession. We did not demonstrate the ability to be firm and sturdy. That’s a painful scenario.
We were more stable in the beginning of the season, but we didn’t create as much. Now we’re scoring a lot but conceding more. “Finding the right balance is challenging.
We tried to adjust the situation to different players and situations on the field. In recent months, the team has failed to demonstrate its ability to be consistent. We score goals, but we concede, so they punish us.”
