England and Chelsea Star will miss Euro 2024 after devastating news has been confirmed this morning

Sam Johnstone, England’s backup custodian, will miss Euro 2024 due to surgery on Wednesday morning, according to The Athletic.

The news comes as a great shock to head coach Gareth Southgate, as the Crystal Palace custodian becomes England’s first injury casualty ahead of the tournament.

Johnstone would have attended the tournament as Jordan Pickford’s backup.

His impressive efforts for the Selhurst Park club this season had put him on the verge of making Southgate’s final team for Germany this summer.

England faces a number of ailments.
Three players departed the England camp on Sunday: Harry Maguire, Kyle Walker, and Johnstone withdrew from Tuesday’s friendly against Belgium.

The custodian, who was supposed to start against Belgium, injured his elbow accidentally while training with England on Sunday.

As a result, he will miss the rest of the season. The 31-year-old got himself into trouble when stopping a shot.
