Harry Kane of Bayern Munich is expected to make a triumphant return to Tottenham this summer, with silverware on the line.
Kane departed Tottenham last summer after spending his whole career with the club up to that point, but will return in August.
Tottenham are scheduled to host Bayern Munich in a pre-season friendly on 10 August in the Visit Malta Cup, with silverware on the line.
Kane joined for Bayern last summer for an initial fee of £82 million, which could increase to £100 million, and has been a big success in the Bundesliga.
The England international is Tottenham’s all-time top goalscorer, and his return to north London will undoubtedly be emotional.
However, despite being regarded as one of Tottenham’s finest players, he never won a trophy throughout his 19-year tenure.
It’s slightly ironic, then, that Kane may wind up collecting a trophy at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium while dressed in the colours of another club.
Along with Kane’s return to Spurs, Eric Dier, another ex-player, could be in line to flourish.
The defender also spent a significant amount of his career with the Premier League club, arriving in 2014 before signing with Bayern in January.
Dier impressed the Bayern hierarchy after signing on loan, and he will join permanently in the summer.
Kane has been in excellent form for Bayern this season, scoring 31 goals and assisting seven in 26 Bundesliga matches.
Despite his remarkable goal scoring record, the German giants may finish the season empty-handed, prolonging Kane’s wait for a championship.
