“I Love Sir Jim Ratcliffe project at Manchester United and I will like to be part of it but on only one Condition- Former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane is set to become the manager of Man U
Erik ten Hag is under pressure following a disappointing second season as Manchester United manager.
The Dutch coach’s future remains uncertain, with the club’s new minority owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, sceptical that he is the right man to lead United back to the top of English football.
As a result of the uncertainty, numerous top managers, notably Zinedine Zidane, have been connected with the Old Trafford club.
The great Frenchman has been out of work since he departed Real Madrid in 2021.
Zidane has two terms in command of the club he played for, winning the Champions League three years in a row from 2016 to 2018, before returning for a second stint in 2019 and leading Los Blancos to the league title.
Zidane was back in Madrid this weekend for a legends match versus Porto, during which he discussed why he resigned nearly three years ago.
“I know football, and I understand the demands of a club like Madrid,” Zidane told Marca.
“I know that when you don’t win you have to leave, but here a very important thing has been forgotten – everything that I have built on a day-to-day basis has been forgotten, what I have contributed in the relationship with the players, with the one hundred and fifty people who work with and around the team.”
The former France star outlined three factors that must be present for a club to be continuously excellent, implying that he would not accept the United post until those conditions were met.
“I was created to win trophies, but there are people, feelings, and life beyond that.
“And I have the impression that these things have not been cherished, that it has not been recognised that this is also how the dynamics of a great club are sustained.
“In certain cases, I have even been chastised for it. Today, a coach’s career on the bench of a great club lasts only two seasons.
Human ties are needed for it to last longer; they are more important than money, celebrity, and everything else.
