As he reaches his seventeenth milestone on March 21st, the 16-year-old talent is on the brink of sealing a professional deal with a London-based club, marking a significant leap in his burgeoning career. The current scholarship arrangement, which had sparked intense competition among Premier League clubs, is poised to evolve into a full-fledged professional contract within the next fortnight.

Reports indicate that besides interest from Chelsea, Manchester City has also made a substantial offer in their pursuit of the skilled attacking midfielder. Particularly noteworthy is the impending contract with Arsenal, which would make him the highest-paid academy player in the club’s history.

Under the guidance of manager Mikel Arteta and the club’s leadership, Nwaneri has garnered widespread praise for his impressive growth since joining the academy in 2016. His meteoric ascent was underscored last season when, at just 15 years and 181 days old, he became the youngest-ever Premier League player, debuting in a 3-0 victory over Brentford.

In the current season, the English-Nigerian prodigy has been a regular presence in the senior squad, making six appearances across various competitions. Notably, his impact was felt in Arsenal’s commanding 6-0 win against West Ham United, where he showcased his burgeoning talent as a second-half substitute.

With 13 appearances across under-19 and under-21 teams, Nwaneri has displayed his versatility and skill, contributing three assists and an impressive tally of 13 goals. The prospect of his continued tenure with the Gunners is sure to delight the club’s loyal supporters, who have been fervently advocating for his inclusion in the first team.

As anticipation mounts for Nwaneri’s forthcoming professional contract, Arsenal fans remain hopeful that manager Arteta will provide ample opportunities for the youngster to exhibit his prodigious talent and further cement his place in the club’s esteemed history.
