Coming from Fabrizio Romano Manchester United has terminated the contracts of Eric Ten Hag and Andre ONANA this morning, as the new manager, arrived at Old Trafford to take over the club
Andre Onana’s play in Manchester United’s last few games has caused worry after he made two mistakes against Galatasaray that cost the team goals.
Imagine that Onana wasn’t the custodian. In that case, United would probably be in a better situation going into their last Champions League game.
Onana’s dependability has been called into question after the mistakes that led to Bayern Munich’s first goal and Casemiro’s red card against Galatasaray.
He has had some great moments, like the important penalty save against FC Copenhagen, but his mistakes have made his good play stand out more.
Even though Onana is talented and has done well with Inter in the Champions League in the past, his frequent mistakes are becoming a worry.
Since the start of the 2018–19 season, he has made more mistakes that led to goals than any other custodian in the league.
Manager Erik ten Hag hasn’t put all the blame on Onana for the team’s recent problems, but the Dutchman must be thinking about where the custodian fits in the team.
Now, United is waiting for other teams to lose their last group game in order to qualify. They need to beat Bayern Munich and hope that the other team draws.
Onana’s lack of stability has made United’s already weak team even less stable. Even though he has traits that help the team, his lack of focus has cost them.
It’s still unclear whether Ten Hag will stick with Onana or look at other goalkeepers to fix the team’s problems.
