A Chelsea player who rejected Arsenal’s offer last summer is now seeking another opportunity to join Arteta’s team after encouragement from Pochettino to find a new club

Fichajes reports that Arsenal is considering an unexpected move for Mykhailo Mudryk, a winger currently with Chelsea.

The Gunners came close to securing the Ukrainian winger’s signature previously, but he ultimately joined Chelsea in 2023.

Arsenal had been deep in negotiations with Shakhtar Donetsk, only for Chelsea to swoop in, agreeing to a substantial fee of approximately £88.5 million to finalize the deal.

However, since his high-profile transfer to Stamford Bridge, the 23-year-old has struggled to adapt to English football and has failed to live up to expectations. With just four goals in 42 appearances for the Blues, Mudryk has fallen short of the anticipated impact.

Recent reports suggest that Chelsea might be open to parting ways with Mudryk, reigniting Arsenal’s interest in the player.

According to Fichajes, both Arsenal and Juventus are leading contenders in Italy vying for Mudryk’s signature.

Given Mudryk’s underwhelming performance at Chelsea and his current market value of around £34 million as per Transfermarkt, Chelsea may have to absorb a significant loss on their initial investment.

Chelsea finds itself in a challenging position, grappling with the complexities of player transfers and financial considerations.

Should Arsenal pursue Mudryk, it would mark a departure from their customary transfer approach.

The Gunners are undoubtedly in need of reinforcements, particularly in wide positions. Nevertheless, splurging on a player who has struggled at a rival club might be perceived as a risky move by both fans and pundits.

Furthermore, Arsenal’s recruitment drive should extend beyond acquiring a lone striker. With talents like Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka already in their ranks, Mikel Arteta will seek to bolster various positions to ensure ample depth and options for rotation throughout the demanding season.
