The 22-year-old is on loan at Getafe following police and club investigations into his private life.
Although the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) dismissed charges against the forward following the withdrawal of a crucial witness, Manchester United concluded it was improper for Greenwood to continue representing them.
Nonetheless, he would turn down the opportunity to join for Barcelona if it meant another chance at United, where he would undoubtedly be made feel unwelcome by opposing fans.
An unidentified source told the Sun that Mason respected Manchester United’s decision to transfer him to Spain, but he always intended to return to the team once the police investigation into him was completed.
“He believes he owes it to the supporters and the manager and would like another chance.
Manchester United is the world’s largest and best club, and he would return if the opportunity presented itself.
According to an unnamed source (The Sun), Mason Greenwood believes Manchester United is the best club in the world and would return if given the opportunity.
“Several clubs, including Barcelona, are interested in signing him.
“But if United threw him a lifeline to resurrect his career at Old Trafford, he’d be on the quickest flight home.”
After scoring seven goals in 24 appearances for Getafe, there is suspicion that United may reconsider.
