Brighton is willing to sell their star player to Arsenal for less than €60 million, as the player begs the club not to disappoint him like Caicedo

Recent reports suggest that Arsenal is leading the race to secure the services of Kaoru Mitoma from Brighton and Hove Albion, outpacing competition from Manchester United and Manchester City.

Mikel Arteta has actively pursued the Japanese international, viewing him as a key addition to address Arsenal’s needs, especially against formidable opponents like City and Liverpool. Mitoma’s impressive performances since becoming a regular starter for Brighton in 2022 have caught Arteta’s attention, strategically aligning with the team’s requirements.

This move comes at a time when Gabriel Martinelli has faced challenges, scoring only two Premier League goals in the current season after an outstanding performance in the 2022/23 season. Mitoma could potentially follow the path of former Brighton players Ben White and Leandro Trossard, both of whom made notable transfers to Big Six clubs, including Arsenal.

However, any potential deal is unlikely to happen during the January transfer window. Brighton’s manager, Roberto de Zerbi, seems reluctant to part ways with a key player mid-season. Historically, Brighton has been cautious about selling their top-performing players, doing so only when the timing and transfer fee align with their expectations.

The club is believed to have set a minimum asking price of £70 million for Mitoma. Negotiations, if they happen, are more likely to occur in the summer, giving Arsenal the opportunity to engage in discussions for the 26-year-old striker.

The pursuit of Mitoma highlights Arsenal’s commitment to strengthening their squad and addressing specific needs identified by Arteta. Competition from other top clubs indicates the recognition of Mitoma’s talent and potential impact in the Premier League. As the summer transfer window approaches, the dynamics of negotiations and the willingness of both clubs to reach an agreement will play a pivotal role in determining Mitoma’s future and his potential move to Arsenal.
