Pep Guardiola broke down in tears after Key Manchester City player who was supposed to be the main man against Newscastle has been injured
Erling Haaland is still out for Manchester City while Pep Guardiola gets his team ready to play Newcastle.
If City wins three points at St. James Park, they will be only two points behind the winners, Liverpool. But they will not have their star No. 9 player because he is still out for a ninth game.
Guardiola will also have to do without John Stones and hope that Jack Grealish gets better from the virus that has been bothering him all week. “Hopefully today he’s back,” he stated, “[but] Erling is out and John are out.”
Kevin De Bruyne, who returned to the first team and helped them beat Huddersfield in the FA Cup, is better news for City. After the game, the Belgian player made it clear that he didn’t think he would be starting any time soon. However, Guardiola says he is ready because he was happily surprised by Huddersfield’s performance.
“What I saw yesterday he looks really good and dynamic,” he stated. “He did really well in the minutes he played. They were better than the practice before the Huddersfield game, when he wasn’t quite at his best.”
“There will be ups and downs in training when you come back from being hurt for five months.” He’s getting better. First we have a game, and then we’ll train four or five times in Abu Dhabi. This will help us get better over the next few months.
