Marcelino, the boss of Villarreal, is afraid to face the Real Madrid star because “he’s extraordinary.”
Ever since Marcelino Garcia Toral came back to Villarreal in November, the Yellow Submarine have been playing very well. After having a terrible start to the season, during which Quique Setien and Pacheta were fired, they have been playing great lately.
But Marcelino will have his biggest test yet on Sunday, when Villarreal play Real Madrid in Madrid. During his pre-game press conference (via MD), the 58-year-old decided to talk about Jude Bellingham, who has been Carlo Ancelotti’s team’s star player this season.
“He’s really amazing. The guy who has played the best in all of Europe is him. Let him play a part, but not too much. It will be hard because he plays a big role in most of the field, especially in the last third.
“Himself is very well backed up by top players like Rodrygo.” We will need to be strong in collective help to make them less of a factor in the game.
Real Madrid will have a big game on Sunday thanks to Bellingham, but Villarreal and Marcelino will know they need to stop all 11 players if they want to keep up their good recent form.
