🚨🗣️ Diego Simeone to Luka Modrić : “Luka! Luka! Join us & come play with us!” 😉✨
It seems that Real Madrid player Luka Modric has been invited to join Diego Simeone, the manager of Atletico Madrid, at the Wanda Metropolitano for the upcoming season.
With just four months remaining on his Los Blancos contract, 38-year-old Modric is playing in his last season at the Santiago Bernabeu. With Carlo Ancelotti’s team, the Croatian has had a great career, making 514 appearances and taking home 23 major awards in addition to the Ballon d’Or.
But Ancelotti has given the Croatian international a more subdued role at Real Madrid this year. Having started 10 of the 18 La Liga games, he has evolved into more of a bit player.
In Sunday’s Madrid derby, Los Merengues and Atletico drew 1-1, with Modric not starting. (February 4). Simeone spoke with him briefly on the touchline before he entered the game in the 76th minute.
According to DAZN, the five-time UEFA Champions League winner was persuaded to join Los Colchoneros by the Argentine coach. It is said that he said:
“Luka! Luka! Come play with us and join us!”
It wouldn’t be the first time a player played for both teams or left Madrid to play for their opponent. Raul was a legendary player for both of Real Madrid’s rival teams, and Los Blancos custodian Thibaut Courtois also played at the Wanda Metropolitano.
When Modric’s Real Madrid contract ends in the summer, he will be free to sign with any team. He arrived at the Bernabeu in August 2012 after signing a €35 million contract to leave Tottenham Hotspur.

In midfield, Los Blancos have an abundance of options, particularly with the addition of Jude Bellingham this past summer.
